For 50 days, we're ranking the most important Illini for the 2010 season.
No. 40: Zak Pedersen, long snapper
Why he's important: If you've read this blog long enough, you know how much we value the long snapper. The guys only get their name mentioned when they mess up, which isn't often. Pedersen is the latest in line at Long Snapper U. He's just a sophomore, which is good for the upcoming punters and kickers. He's got a veteran punter, Anthony Santella, who will help make a smooth transition. Pedersen helped Joliet Catholic win the 2007 state title, making his mark while tackling punt returners. He also played guard for Joliet Catholic.
